Doubling Gifts for Someone Born on Christmas Day | Condo Tips

Dec 28, 2021

Time flies and living with someone or your significant other might just be a normal day which is why celebratory events just like Christmas and birthdays are necessary. Make peace with the fact that things might go stale, and spicing things up should be consistent.

Interestingly, this question needs to be associated with the five love languages as defined by Dr. Gary Chapman. If this is idea is no longer new, one can understand a loved one more by noticing how love is being expressed—that way gifts are well-thought of and mirrored through how they prefer to be loved. Indeed, people have preferences in just about everything! These are also erratic. Love languages change over time and the knowledge of all of these fosters beautiful long-term relationships.

Theoretically, to make a person feel loved, mirroring his or her love language is a good idea. People show love in five different ways:

Love Languages

Words of affirmation

When harsh words can bother a person for a long time, words of affection, compliments, and encouragement would build a person up. In other words, gifts still mean a lot, at the same time consistency saying loving words will complement the gift that was given. Gifts do not have to be costly, add a letter about a meaningful or fun memory two people share and how it makes Christmas with him or her even better— yes, handwritten, and yes, your person will know if you wrote it.

Acts of Service

Imagine being a full-time homemaker with the kids. This is all about acts of service from preparing food for your loved ones, making sure they remember to take their medicines, driving kids to school, and these things are easily overlooked since none of it look fancy as major career advancement.

One could hope that the gift would be a partner who consistently tries to help lessen the workload without having to be told—and still, maybe a bunch of flowers on a special day. In this case, the person is the gift. Ordering food on Christmas Day so nobody needs to get tired is a brilliant idea, at the same time, one can prepare the meat for barbecue since cooking for someone is sexy and adorable—cook nicely though! Pressure is on, videos are available online for quick references.

Receiving gifts

Do not think of this as the materialistic type of showing love. The movie “Me Before You” showed the leading man remembering a childhood memory of the leading lady by gifting her favorite bumblebee tights. Little things matter—she was happier to receive it more than jewelry with her boyfriend’s name.

Now, this is spoon-feeding, don’t just get something associated with what’s missing in the kitchen or on the office table. Chances are that the gift would just remind a person about daily activities or a job. Draw out good memories about how they wanted something and how controlled the urge to buy is. Go to a shop the person always visits and the items they always look at but won’t buy for the meantime.

Quality time

One feels incredibly loved with undivided attention—be on a date with no gadgets nearby. Engage in long conversations and allot periods of being alone with each other. Get comfortable with silence without having to be rescued by a smartphone to fill in gaps.

Book tickets to a movie or concert and have dinner after, go for a minor trail hike, camp, and gaze at the stars (hope it doesn’t rain). Assuming no other relatives to spend Christmas with, take a getaway vehicle and let the significant other know that driving anywhere nice and fun is the only plan for the day. Openly check if these ideas would be fun for both parties.

Physical touch

Accept that humans need physical affection. Physical neglect can create a gap amongst partners. Hugs, kisses, holding hands, and other kinds of touches convey warmth, safety, and assurance. The mismatch on this part of the relationship can make another feel ignored, unattractive, and even unloved. Doubling a gift? Give hugs and kisses plus a simple necklace or a watch.

These are all in theory. The best thing to do is get to know a person better. Knowing what they hate is as important as knowing what excites them. It wouldn’t always take years to get to know a person especially if constant communication is practiced. This way there will be no need for a spy or angel to whisper what the person truly desires as a gift.

Christmas day as someone’s birthday at the same time could already be a double celebration without having to double the gift. But if one can afford to give more despite other expenses, why couldn’t it be done?

In fact, it doesn’t have to be double if one gift is well-thought of. This is the grandest and most practical idea, but what if this partner is truly valuable to the level of seeing marriage in the future? Perhaps taking him or her on an escapade to experience condo living for a week will be a showstopper. See how they comment on the condo design and ask about their plans for a future home.

If that happened before and one is already comfortable turning this plan into a reality and for as long as the trust is established, purchase a condo and give a key to this person. If times have been rough and affording more than usual is not yet possible, just be present during this celebration. The pandemic hit everyone differently, one good thing is people are around to share experiences with.
