New Year's Resolution for 2022 | Condo Tips

Dec 21, 2021

A new year is about to come, and just like every year, there’s a new hope to spark positive change in each and everyone’s own life. Some start the year feeling refreshed and renewed after leaving all the negative things in the previous year, while others are just looking forward to surviving and moving forward next year. 2021 has been a tough year for everyone, especially since people are still suffering because of the pandemic. But this year also brought people hope as the vaccination starts and quarantine restrictions become less strict. But no matter how good or bad this year is to you; all you need is a fresh start to align your goals and go on with life.

Despite the hope and best intentions, people have, once the excitement finally wears off, many people find it difficult to go through with the plan and commit to their goals. Also, life is unpredictable, and the years 2020 and 2021 are the best example of it.

In coming up with your New Year’s Resolution, it is very important to start it with a reflection and evaluation of how you went through the previous year. This will help you to have a deeper understanding of yourself and therefore identify areas that you wish to improve on.

Steps on how you can start building your New Year’s Resolution

Be mentally prepared

Changing habits is no easy task, especially if you have been practicing doing these all throughout your life. It is important to take back and reflect before jumping into your New Year’s resolutions. The first step in doing that is spending time just evaluating how far you’ve come this 2021. This includes all the struggles, small wins, and big achievements you went through. Here are some questions you can start asking yourself:

  • What did I set out to do in the past year?
  • Where did I make progress?
  • Where didn’t I see progress?

Obviously, you will focus on the things that you lack but don’t forget that is also important to see the areas where you have grown, no matter how small it seems. You need to celebrate the small wins in order to appreciate the bigger wins that will come along. This will also help you to be more positive when it comes to your goals most especially when you realize that success is more about the journey rather than the result of what you have achieved.

Set goals that can motivate you

You have to center your goals on yourself, which means when choosing a new year’s resolution, make sure that you are doing this for yourself and not for other people. Simply because this is your life, and you owe it to yourself. Whenever you set goals and you try to impress other people, you’ll see how hard it is to accept when you are not appreciated so be careful of your resolutions. Make sure to align this with the following:

  • Your goals
  • Your dreams
  • Your life priorities
  • Your aspirations

There’s nothing wrong with hoping for better things for your loved ones as well but don’t forget that your dreams in life are as important as your loved one’s dreams.

Ensure that your dreams are manageable and realistic

Having too many resolutions and spreading oneself too thin is a common mistake. We all want to learn 25 languages, get 15 new work skills, and kick 5 bad habits, but we aren't superhumans. We only have so much attention span to devote to self-improvement, so making too many resolutions is a surefire way to fail to meet the various objectives you've set for yourself.

As a result, you should make a small list of resolutions that you will be able to accomplish in the next year. The difficult aspect is coming up with a small list of priorities. Understanding how to prioritize is crucial in this situation.

Set SMART Goals

SMART Goals framework can help you to make better goals in the future and make them more realistic.

  • Specific - Make the resolution as explicit as possible.
  • Measurable - Quantify your resolution
  • Attainable - Choose a goal that is within reach yet still hard.
  • Relevant - Keep it in line with your priorities and objectives.
  • Time-sensitive - Set a deadline for yourself to attain a goal.

Divide big goals into smaller goals

Many of us tend to be enthusiastic and exaggerated when it comes to resolutions. We have the best intentions and can mistakenly set goals that are too big to achieve. Therefore, it is useful to divide a large goal into smaller ones that are more achievable.

Let's say you are looking forward to earning half a million or investing in a ready for occupancy condo this 2022. At first glance, you can say that it is hard to achieve your goal. But if you break down your goals into simpler goals or simpler tasks, it will be less overwhelming for you.

Create a journal or a contract for yourself

Writing down your goals can be helpful for you since goals are easy to forget especially if you have many things to do. But making a habit to jot down your goals and your progress as you move forward, can give you the motivation and remind you the reason of why you are doing this. Also, it is fun to look back on how long you’ve come. You can be creative as possible on this part. Make it personal!

Enjoy the journey with your loved ones

Sometimes the best way to enjoy life is being with people who you can call your support system. Share your journey with them and also encourage them to do the same. With this, you can create better connections while being each other’s support in achieving your dreams.

Have fun and don’t be afraid to fail!

Life is all about falling down and standing up stronger. As mentioned earlier, changing old habits are not easy as it sounds. So don’t be afraid to see yourself going back to your old habits, but don’t forget to set your eyes on your goals. It’s okay to fail as long as you stand up stronger.

Goals vary from person to person, but whatever your goal, you should always prioritize investing in the house you live in with yourself. One way to invest is by condominium life, which allows you to design your own space to your liking. In this way, you are yourself and treat yourself to your own sanctuary where you can continue your path to a better life. Invest in places where you can generate income, like a condo in Baguio or other tourist spots.
